This day we are again on our adventure to find & follow our old long forgotten tram routes. This time it is the turn of the Coorparoo (Lade St) line, pulled up in 1955 and replaced by the very new swish trolley buses.

Your start today is the former Ipswich Road Tram Depot at Buranda (though the current maps now call it Woolloongabba). This is a place I know well since my dad was a tram driver, then a bus driver, before becoming a night watchman at the Milton Depot (and having fun watching the 1974 flood waters flowing up through the drains into the depot). I enjoyed many a night time ride around the southside bus routes starting out from this very place.

Our route follows Ipswich Rd inbound to the ‘newly” opened O’Keeffe St line to Stones Corner, then along Old Cleveland Rd to Coorparoo Junction. Here, our line branched off the Belmont Line and went up Cavendish Rd to the intersection with Lade St/Geelong Ave at Loreto College for young ladies.

Since this makes a very vey short Stroll, I have combined it with the Greenslopes Line to make it one gigantically small Stroll. From Loreto, it is through the back streets of Coorparoo & Holland Park to the Greenslopes shopping precinct. Then it is down to Norman Ck and the Thompson’s Estate playing fields, where young men learnt the basics of rugby,  to both the Buranda Rail and Bus Stations for your pleasant journey home.
