Where do you go for some of the best Malaysian food in Brisbane? Well, if you’re me, you stroll 10 minutes down the road to the local bowlo! The Malaysian woman behind Little Nyonya Kitchen started selling Malaysian food at markets because she was unhappy with the Malaysian food available in Brisbane. From there she graduated to a food truck then opened her first restaurant to the Ferny Grove Bowls club. She has just relocated her second restaurant to the Everton Park Bowls Club which is great for me (and for you too as our May Coffee Night is set to be there).
The servings are huge and the cost is very reasonable. The food is served in a large open and airy room. Drinks are available at Club prices. All the classics are here: nasi lemak, curries served with roti, laksa, stir fried noodles and much more. They also have several specials. And there are several Malaysian desserts for those with a sweet tooth. I’m a great fan of the duck laksa which is crammed full of duck and so large I had to take some home for the next day. The chicken curry or beef rendang served with roti is also great. It’s nice to have a change from rice as the accompaniment.
Not a fan of spicy food? Not to worry. They have some low spice Asian foods such as sweet and sour and chicken and cashews. They also have some normal club food such as Parmi or fish and chips. Although they look pretty ordinary compared to the fresh Asian food.
So come along and join me at a great addition to the Everton Park restaurant scene. I guarantee you’ll come away impressed. Text me to let me know if you’re coming. I’m sure you’ll be pleased if you come.
